OldFenBoy gone good or bad according to perspective It were the Acid Smoke Rocknroll long hair and education wot done it. From fen village school via scholarship to Grammar where “this boy cannot hope to pass more than three ‘O’ levels ” says headmaster and “if he comes back next term I shall have to ask him to leave”. So seven winters of freezing family farming and Young Farmers is enough and our hero drops out then decides on Cambridge Tech. Nine months makes three ‘A’ levels and enough for Cardiff Uni. Anti-apartheid, debates & study and fun in Welsh rain. Two years and exchange scholarship to Washington State Uni., USA. Whohee and whoopee. Anti-war protests, up Nixon, ecology etc and back to finish Cardiff and into Cambridge Uni as Research graduate on drug use so to speak. Sheebang…enuff of this puffery. This and that, up and down, some rum stuff, ducking and diving, rearing family in Fens, and now…. 68 years young yesterday according to 17 year old daughter bless her perception.
